Chapter Objectives

• To provide an understanding of the factors contributing to academic struggles among higher education students and identify students considered “at-risk” and in need of coaching support.

• To introduce the PROPER Coaching Framework as a practical tool for conducting coaching conversations with at-risk students.

• To address the importance of academic coaches’ self-care and wellbeing in working with at-risk students in higher education.
