The current study focused on Singapore, one of the world’s most densely populated urban nations. We analyzed practical examples of urban farming as a regenerative urban space strategy in an advanced, mature city, using existing urban spaces. To convert under-used urban spaces to urban farming land to contribute to compact urban amenities, rather than only improving agricultural productivity, this study provides an overview of major initiatives in urban farming and related urban planning in Singapore. Additionally, we analyzed a case study of multi-story car parks in two strategic areas as potential sites for urban farming (Ang Mo Kio and Punggol), which were established in different eras. On the basis of the results, a demonstration testbed was developed for proposal-based validation of the optimal placement of urban farming units and environmental assessment indicators.
