Kian Lip Erick Tan

Senior Lecturer (Education; Language, communication and culture; Health sciences)

Erick is a high-performing educator at the Singapore Institute of Technology with consistently outstanding teaching scores, and is a second-time recipient of the university's annual Teaching Excellence Award. Skilled in teaching academic and professional communication, Erick led the restructure of the university's Communicating Across Curriculum (CAC) initiative that sees the embedding of written and oral communication skills into the discipline-specific modules of the university's 36 undergraduate programmes. With a professional background as a Speech and Language Therapist, Erick's research focus lies particularly in the area of Clinical Phonetics. In addition to his varied background as a clinician and an educator, Erick is an effectively bilingual speaker who is concurrently a part-time radio broadcaster with one of Singapore Press Holding’s Mandarin radio stations in Singapore, and an avid keyboardist in the Mandopop scene in Singapore.
